Context
The Haçienda, located in Manchester, was a legendary nightclub and music venue that was pivotal in the emergence of acid house, rave culture, and the "Madchester" scene during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Established in 1982, it was created by Factory Records, the label known for artists like Joy Division and New Order, and was primarily funded by New Order and Tony Wilson, a key music figure and co-founder of Factory. The club was located in a former yacht showroom on Whitworth Street West.
